PPH Lawyer, PPH Attorney
PPH (Primary Pulmonary Hypertension) or Primary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is a disease whereby the blood vessels inside the lungs grow progressively narrower, which results in high blood pressure. This high blood pressure can ultimately lead to heart failure, as is the case with any blood pressure that's too high, and another name for high blood pressure is hypertension. The available therapy merely controls the PPH side effect of high blood pressure, and does not save the patient from eventual fatal heart valve damage.
Appetite suppressants have been shown to increase the risk of getting PPH, especially with extended use. In 1997, diet drugs, Fen Phen and Redux were taken off the market after being associated with heart valve damage. Even one time use of these diet drugs has stopped, PPH may still develop several years later.According to the American Heart Association, there are 500 to 1,000 new cases of PPH diagnosed each year, the highest number being women ages 20-40. There are also 300 new cases of PAH reported each year.

The SSRI Connection
In July 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a report to inform health care providers of a link between the use of antidepressants known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) during pregnancy and an increased risk of PPHN in newborns. Following are some familiar brand names of SSRI antidepressants:* Celexa
* Lexapro
* Paxil
